Halloween Card Week - Day 5

Today is the last day of Halloween Card Week and I am sharing a potpourri of Halloween paper craft inspiration!   From banners to decorations to treats, today is a mixed bag of Halloween crafts!  Don't forget to enter to win by commenting on the post.   You could win some PSA Essentials Halloween treats.

First up is a witches hat with an adorable Hello Kitty from Hello Kitty Trick or Treat by PSA Essentials.  This was designed a few years ago by Carly Robertson - I just love it!

Here's a festive hanging banner by Jamie Cripps.  She's used my favorite Halloween stamps from UBU Happy Halloween.  

This card was done by Monika Wright and she's used UBU Happy Halloween stamps also and twine from The Twinery.

Monika also designed this simple banner using twine from The Twinery and our UBU Happy Halloween stamps and her PSA Stamper loaded orange and black ink.

These adorable candy corn treat cones are by Marie Pearse and use stamps from PSA Haunted Shack.  Display these for your Halloween party and you are sure to be a hit.

Today's designs are clean and simple - therefore right up MY alley.  Do you like this style of cardmaking?  I just love the powerful impact that white space plays, or an uncluttered look has.  You don't have to layer and layer and layer to make a great card.

Halloween Card Week - Day 3

Today's subject is actually a bit off subject.  It's Halloween Treats!  Our designers, Jennifer Holmes and Jamie Cripps have created extra special treat favors using boxes and their PSA Essentials Peel & Stick stamps.    Jamie has used stamps from UBU Happy Halloween here.

Jennifer Holmes filled a treat box with Halloween Oreos (yum!), then tied some ribbon and added some stamps from PSA Haunted Shack and PSA Vanilla Peel & Stick stamps.  

Check out the detail here  - she stamped the "boo" stamp from Haunted Shack, then overlaid it with "3" and "1" from PSA Vanilla.   The attention to detail here is really spectacular! 

Lastly, Jamie did a treat box with an adorable spider's web.  She used the spider stamp from Skelanimals Thomas & Friends.

Halloween Card Week - Day 1

All of the cards today were designed by Jennifer Holmes and appear in the Fall 2012 issue of Paper Creations magazine.  You'll need to purchase the issue to find out how to make them (complete instructions are included in the mag!) but here's what you'll find.   They're no doubt my favorite Halloween cards of all time.

Toy Storage Organization

My 3 year old daughter Molly goes to a Montessori school and among the many things I am grateful that she is learning is the concept of order.   Molly likes things in their place, organized and neat.   If you leave something open, she will ask you to close it.   If she takes something off a shelf, she’ll put it back.   If something is messy, she likes it to be clean.   Yes, she has a mother who has some tendencies of OCD, but mostly I attribute this characteristic of Molly’s to school.     One of my best friends Susan who watched her this summer said that one time Molly practically begged her to clean up her room!

Taylor Urban of our design team also likes be organized, especially with her kids cars, puzzles, books, cars and other toys.  She created these simple and attractive toy storage organization labels.   Now “big toys,” “cars,” “small toys,” and “balls” all have a place.   And they are creatively labeled and decorated using PSA Essentials stamps.  

Taylor chose stamps from Peanuts Joe Cool Peel & Stick pack to illustrate each label.   She framed them against colorful patterned cardstock and hung them with yarn and washi tape on bins. 

The room is uncluttered and her kids can easily find their stuff, even if they aren’t reading yet because of the stamp illustration.   Got to love this neat idea.  Pun intended. 

Fall Banner

This Saturday is the first official day of fall.  Welcome Fall!  Cooler weather, falling leaves, football season, school in session, shorter days, and the holidays approaching – all things that I love about fall.   Second to Spring, it’s my favorite season.    There’s a lot of fun decorating you can do for this season, the colors are warm and inviting and a little bit of decorating can make nesting season fun.    Here’s a great idea by Ashley at Cherished Bliss, it’s a banner that can be hung on your mantel above your fireplace, from a window, a doorway, or just about anywhere!

Ashley has used the PSA Essentials Archive Peel & Stick collection to spell “Fall.”    She’s stamped with her PSA Stamper using black ink on canvas.   Turned out great!  Do you want to make this? Here’s a quick tutorial.   You will need:

·         Scrap piece of canvas material

·         Baker's twine

·         Cheesecloth

·         Yarn

·         PSA Essentials Archive Peel & Stick stamps

And the following tools:

·         Hot glue gun

·         Scissors

·         Orange fabric dye (optional)

·         PSA Stamper with black ink

Cut out the canvas pennants and stamp the letters "FALL".   Then glue baker's twine on the corners of each pennant.   

Ashley took a dyed cheesecloth and cut a strip a little shorter than the banner so it would drape.  Then cut two pieces of yarn and tie it all together on the ends. 

A quick and relatively easy project, this just may be the thing you need to welcome fall in your household!

Scripture Canvas

Check out this DIY Scripture Canvas by Ashley at Cherished Bliss.   She's one of our newest design team members! You can adapt the words and lettering to whatever saying you choose, I have provided some ideas at the end.  I adore the straight forward nature of the artwork, it's simple yet powerful.

You will need the following supplies:

1. Canvas
2. Sharpie
3. PSA Essentials Archive Peel & Stick stamps & PSA Essentials Vanilla Peel & Stick stamps 
4. PSA Essentials Stamp Centering Tool

Here's a tutorial.  It's pretty simple, but a little time consuming.  

1. Draw a line down the center (vertically) in pencil very lightly.
2. Divide the height of the canvas into equal parts and draw lines across horizontally so you can center the words.  
3. Using the Stamp Centering tool,  line it up with each pencil mark and stamp each word out.
4. Let the words dry, then spray with hairspray to set it. 
5. Erase the pencil marks.
6. If you choose, the scripture at the bottom was written in sharpie

I used to keep a quote book filled with all sorts of inspiring words.   I've included some ideas of DIY Canvas quotes you can use, if the scripture isn't your thing!  These all would work well on a canvas.
