Trudy Sjolander joins us today as our last of three guest designers. We held an audition on Splitcoast Stampers a few months ago and had over a hundred people apply, so you know Trudy has to good!
Trudy was chosen because her designs offer a fresh perspective from our current design team's work. She describes her style as "cutsie cutisie" because she often has cute animals and flowers appear in her work. She spends a lot of time adding layers, stitching, and adding embellishments. It's clear that the amount of work that goes into each card is substantial, and she doesn't just whip these together on a whim, they don't take her 10 minutes to do. There is real thought and careful craft here. She uses watercolors 99% of the time and is an illustrator, design team challenge coordinator for Really Reasonable Ribbon, and teaches classes.
Trudy's been published in CardMaker magazine and was just one of eleven designers whose work was featured in "Coloring Techniques for Card Making." Without further delay, here are some of Trudy's creations! She's stamped "Friends are Forever" from PSA Essentials Dare to Dream. There sure are a lot of flowers in here!
Up next, Trudy has created this "Thinking of You" card, stamping also from PSA Essentials Dare to Dream Peel & Stick pack. More and more flowers! These colors are very springy.
Lastly, Trudy created a very bright birthday card. She's stamped "Skip the Cake, Eat the Icing" from Dare to Dream, and the cupcakes from PSA Whimsy Cakes Peel & Stick stamps. She's taken tremendous care and time to color in the stamps, even the outer rings. She's used her copics here – and managed to shade the cakes perfectly. This bright and cheery card would be fun to send to a friend for their birthday, wouldn't it?
